Career in Interior Designing

Introduction:
As the name suggests, Interior Designing is all about designing the house i.e. elements inside the house, such as walls, furniture, windows, etc. Interior Designers work on various types of projects including office areas, residential areas, industrial areas, retail areas, entertainment sections like malls, hotels, cafes etc. Interior Designers need to work with a team of contractors and workers in order to execute the project. Designers need to be very patient and competitive to cope with the demand of the market. Designers need to work as per the client’s needs. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance in this field. They need to work as per the client’s budget and design comfortable spaces, which have both practical as well as aesthetic appeal. Interior Designers may be attached to a company or may be self-employed.
Basic qualities required to be an Interior Designer:
· Drawing and Designing skills are a must. Candidates interested in this profession also need to have technical knowledge.
· Candidates need to be updated with the latest technology and market conditions. They should be resourceful, and be aware of from where to get select pieces of furniture as well as stuff required for designing his/her project, in order to customize their designs.
· Candidates must possess good communicational and interpersonal skills in order to get projects.
Eligibility:
One needs to be HSC (10+2). Certificates of elementary and intermediate drawing exams may also help
Career Options: Firstly designers start their career as freshers,
Later project managers,
Then a Designer, depending on the scope and quality of work.
Remuneration:
· Initially as a fresher start off is Rs.3, 000/ to Rs.6, 000/pm
· Later as a project manager it goes up to Rs.30000/ to Rs.50000/
· A Designer may get any amount as per the quality of work, and the budget of the customer.
