Career prospects in Banking

Career prospects in Banking:
The public banks are expected to grow at 10-15% and private banks at a slightly higher rate. In 2009 foreign banks in India will expand rapidly as branch licensing will be liberalised by the RBI in keeping with the WTO commitments. Projected recruitment this year is 30000, by next year is 55000 and by 2010 is 75000.

Qualifications:
Public Banks- 10+2(HSC) 60% or graduates can apply for the post of clerk.
To become a probationary officer, 60% at the graduate level is mandatory
Private Banks- 50% to 60% for the post of junior officer/executive and 60% for the post of probationary officer in graduate level exam.
CAs and MBAs are directly recruited at Deputy Manager or Manager level.

Remuneration:
Public Banks per month: Rs.6,000/(clerical) to Rs.30,000/(managerial) and annual increments at predetermined rates.
Private Banks per month: Rs.7,000/(clerical) to Rs.45,000/(managerial) and 10% to 60% of the salary is given as performance bonus.

Career ladder:
75% of new recruiters will be clerks or junior officers/executives, or probationary officers, or assistant managers.
